Plant A Row & Pantry Update for Week Ending July 19, 2009

July 23rd, 2009

July has been even busier than June. To date, folks in need have visited the Pantry 97 times. Contributions include 815 lbs of vegetables and fruit, 16 lbs of butter, 26 dozen eggs, 10 quarts of milk, 276 lbs of canned and boxed food, and 67 lbs of pet food. Currently we’re receiving Plant A Row produce at about twice June’s rate. It’s been great to see so many new contributors bringing in their vegetables and fruit and also “store bought” food.

If your church, social or civic group might like to collect food for the Pantry, please call Mimi Forbes at 675-1177. She’ll suggest specific items for your group.

Always needed are milk, eggs, butter, peanut butter, jelly, and pet foods.

We’ll soon start deliveries for homebound people. If you’d be interested in delivering food, or picking up someone and taking him or her to the Pantry to shop, please let me know. These are folks who don’t get out and about much, so we’re also hoping that volunteers can spend some time just “visiting,” too.

Respectfully submitted for Kathy Eggers, Volunteer Coordinator
and Fred Eggers, PAR Statistician
