Pantry Update – Week 2
The Food Pantry had a great second week. Gardeners donated more than 150 lbs of fresh produce. Lettuce and turnips (thank you, Farm at Sunnyside), cabbage and potatoes made up the bulk of donations, but there was a nice selection of leafy greens and herbs as well. Volunteers also contributed six dozen eggs, “store bought” bananas and lemons, and canned goods.
Thirty households, representing 54 individuals, were served at the Food Pantry last week.
Mimi Forbes, Food Pantry Director, raved about the solid support she’s gotten from volunteers since the Food Pantry’s June 2 opening. Call Mimi with any questions about food donations or the operation of the Food Pantry at 675-1177.
Take your donations to the pantry Tuesday or Thursday between 9:00 and 11:30, or Saturday between 9:00 and 10:00.
