Plant A Row and Rappahannock Food Pantry Update Week Ending June 21, 2009

June 22nd, 2009

The Food Pantry had a busy third week.  Thirty-one households, representing 86 people, were served at the Food Pantry.

Twenty-one donors contributed 108 lbs. of fresh produce, 114 lbs. of canned and boxed food, 23 lbs. of frozen meat, 8 dozen eggs, 2 gallon of milk, and 128 lbs. of dry dog food.  Mary Arthur’s Culinary Arts Program at Rappahannock High School, Girl Scout Troop 628, and Fauquier High School (through volunteer Warren Hackney) contributed food for the Pantry last week.

Recipients of Pantry food are so grateful for the Plant a Row fresh produce and eggs.  It was all gone when the Pantry closed Saturday.  One grateful recipient brought Food Pantry workers homemade fudge.

Mimi Forbes, Food Panty director, has a wish list of items that the Pantry either doesn’t have access to or it runs out of quickly.  She’d welcome donations of half gallons of 2% and non-fat milk, butter, eggs, frozen juices, jelly, salad oil, vinegar, mustard, ketchup, and pet foods.  Call Mimi at 675-1177 with questions about donations or the operation of the Pantry.

Take your donations to the Pantry Tuesday or Thursday between 9:00 and 11:30, or Saturday between 9:00 and 10:00.

Thanks!

Respectfully submitted for Kathy Eggers, Volunteer Coordinator
and Fred Eggers, PAR Statistician
